The Salt Spring Island Potters Guild is pleased to host The Salt Spring Island Ceramic Awards, a biennial juried exhibition featuring the best in ceramic art from the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island.

The aim of this award is to encourage established and emerging artists, whose practice demonstrates originality, creativity and technical skill resulting in work with depth and visual impact. The intent is also to strengthen the Guild by raising its profile in the ceramic community and with the general public.

A three-member jury has selected anonymously, 63 pieces from the works of regional island potters and ceramic artists for The Salt Spring Island Ceramic Awards’ (SSICA) biennial competition. These awards offer artists the opportunity to compete for up to $4,200 in prize money, with the winner in the 'established artist' category taking home $3,000, and in the 'emerging artist' category, $500.

$4200 in Prizes;
SSICA Established Artist - 1st Prize - $3,000
SSICA Emerging Artist - 1st Prize - $500
SSICA Honourable Mention(s) - total of $500 to be awarded at the discretion of the jurors
SSICA People’s Choice Award - $200 in 2016 sponsored by Gallery 8.

A series of events will be hosted throughout October for adults and children. Further events and information associated with the awards may be found on our website https://saltspringpottersguild.com/ceramics-awards
